What’s the cheapest way to visit Ellesmere Island, Canada?
February 27th, 2010 | by admin |Here is my target destination for the future. http://www.aventurearctique.com/realise/ellesmere/carte_generale_ellesmere.gif
I’m not going there this year, this summer it’s the Yukon. But I WILL visit Ellesmere Island (Grise Fjord) before I die. It’s a plan. Ellesmere Island makes Yellowknife look like it’s near the equator!
But how can I CHEAPLY get to Ellesmere Island and camp on the base fjord?
So far this is what I found
1) By Air
-Fly or Drive to Ottawa at the beginning and end of trip ($150.00)
-Take First Airlines to Resolute Bay, changing planes in Iqaluit, NU (C$3,820)
-Take Kenn Borek Air Charter from Resolute Bay to Grise Fjord, Ellesmere Island. (UNKNOWN COST)
Could cost $5,000 or more!
Another method of getting there was an arctic cruiseline of some sort? Does anyone know how I can get there?
If we can get there, we’ll be safe from Swine Flu pandemic in a paradise of 24-hour sunshine and glacial ice and polar bears and breathtaking fjords
Why don’t Canadians make a voyage there as a group sometime? Like to celebrate if the Leafs win the Stanley Cup Finals?
